Sekyere Central District Assembly has set a revenue target of GH¢2,738,718.00 for this year, Mr Ebenezer Akuoko Frimpong, the District Chief Executive, has told a meeting of the assembly.
Out of this amount GH¢191,718.00 is expected to be internally generated with the remaining GH¢2,547,000.00 coming from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), the HIPC Fund, Members of Parliament Constituency Project Fund and other interventions.
The Assembly's approved expenditure for the period is pegged at GH¢2,738,718.00.
Twenty per cent of this would go into recurrent expenditure whilst capital projects take up the huge chunk of 80 per cent.
Mr Frimpong appealed to the Assembly members to liaise with the relevant stakeholders in their communities to identify priority needs that could be incorporated into the Assembly's Medium Team Development plan.
The Assembly expressed concern about the surge of illegal chain saw operations in the district.
The members therefore resolved to do all they could to expose illegal chain saw operators in their communities to help protect the forest.
They asked that the District Forestry Officer should furnish the Assembly with the names of timber companies that have acquired legal timber concessions in the district.
