Philips Reiterates Commitment To Energy Efficient Lighting Solutions In Ghana To Address Energy Crisis

Philips Ghana, part of Royal (AEX: PHIA, NYSE: PHG), the global leader in lighting, hosted the “Sustaining Businesses Through the Energy Crisis” forum in Accra today, to focus on key energy challenges facing businesses and to highlight the role that LED lighting technology can play in improving energy efficiency in Ghana.

A recent Industries report shows that the number one challenge facing 6 out of 10 businesses today is the availability of power supply with the worsening energy situation continuing to affect the confidence level of the business community in Ghana.  73% of employers interviewed as part of the report cited that they had no intention of increasing their workforce on account of the current energy crisis and its impact on the economy.

Speaking at the forum Dr. Nii Darko Asante, Technical Director of the Energy Commission commented: "The Energy Commission is committed to ensuring that Ghana's energy resources are utilized sustainably and efficiently in the country's development, and we all have our part to play in achieving this goal.

We welcome and promote proven and effective energy efficiency measures that can be implemented by businesses to help them and contribute in managing the current power crisis. One such measure is the innovation of LED lighting systems which have the potential to not only help businesses be more energy efficient but can ultimately aid in supporting their bottom line during these challenging times."

Philips LED lighting solutions cut energy costs for businesses

Philips introduces LED lighting products designed to support businesses in Ghana

A series of Philips LED lighting products that provide significant benefits to businesses were unveiled at the forum including the new CoreLine Recessed, SmartBright Troffer, SmartBay and Green Perform HighBay.

Launched in 2015, the new CoreLine Recessed range of LED products is intended for use in new buildings or renovation of an existing space, providing customers with quality of light and substantial energy and maintenance savings. With its slim design, it enables for a simple switch from basic conventional luminaries to LED luminaries.

The GreenPerform HighBaby LED is designed for customers in industrial and warehouse settings who are looking for ways to reduce the amount of energy required to light their facilities as it saves up to 60% energy compared to HID lighting systems.  It also provides reliable light output throughout its lifetime and reduces down time after a power failure.
