Dr Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku has explained that he resigned as Governor of the Bank of Ghana on personal grounds.
Confirming to Graphic Online that he has presented his resignation letter earlier in the day, Dr Issahaku said: “They did not force me out. It was a personal decision".
Speculations had been rife that the 55-year-old economist was forced out by the new government but he told Graphic Online that was not the case and that it was a personal decision.
His last day of work would be Friday, March 31, 2017.
Dr Issahaku was appointed governor in April 2016 by former President John Dramani Mahama.
He replaced Dr Henry Kofi Wampah who took an early retirement four months before the end of his term in August 2016.
Dr Issahaku prior to his appointment as governor was the second deputy governor of the central bank since July 2013.
He holds a Masters in Agric Economics and a Post Graduate degree in Political Science from the University of Georgia.
He worked as a governance expert at the State University of New York, Center for International Studies and also at the African Development Bank and also headed the Export Development and Agricultural Investment Fund (EDAIF).

He is a well principled man, which is why he is leaving. I used to have an affair with his then wife (Mazahir) when he was working on his PHD in Georgia. Abdul Nash Isahaku is a good man, his wife is simply MUCH better!
Leave Dr. Nash alone. Learn to celebrate your leaders GHanaians
TONY THE BULL, YOU ARE SO TRIBALISTIC. WHY DON'T YOU TALK SENSE FOR ONCE? YOU ARE SUCH A MONKEY
Dear Prez Akufo-Addo and Council of State, for Ghana's sake please advertise the position and pick the best qualified Ghanaian there is. Don't offer the post to anyone (friend, sibling, whatever even if qualified) on a silver platter. You will do Ghana a whole lot of good by such an act. You don't typically rise from EDAIF to Governor of the Central bank but then again in abnormal times abnormal things take place. Yes, Addison has been one of the people who were being groomed since the 90s for this type of position but please let him compete with other qualified Ghanaians and let the best person take the job.
NPP was warned by Lawyer Okudjeto not to ask this man to resign else they will end up paying salaries for the rest of his term. Now they have done it nicodemously thinking that nobody would ever know. This is going to cost Ghana GHS89,000.00x36months= GHS3,204,000.00 for free plus other entitlements. Oh small country called Ghana being lead by dimwitssss
Ghana will soon resume the bad name again. Money laundry, Cocaine business , etc. Let pray for Ghana. Am sad.
@First Lady Elect, if Ghanaians are talking of CRIMINALS and CROOKS in this country, the you will find them in NDC. For the past 8 years NDC was in power everything they do there will be corruption attaching to it. Examples AMERI, CAL POWER, TICO TEN, ISOFOTON, CP, GEEDA, PURCHASE OF AEROPLANE and Dubious Contracts. Can you associate any corrupt thing against the current President, it is big NO. When the time comes and he start collecting the People money which some individuals have stolen, some of you DO NOT TALK or CRY. He will collect every pesewa to use it develop the country instead of being used by one person alone.
Massa; whether this northner KROOK resigned or was booted out because of his incompetent and KROOKED WAYS to me is inmaterial ; the issue is was the man competent and the answer is NO !!!!the evidence is there ;look at the mess he caused with the unsupervision of DKM under the instruction of Jon and Lordina Mahama and other shady deals at the BOG besides why should you resign a job if you are good and competent ; how can a man with a Phd in agric end up been a governor of a Bank instead of been on the farm help to produce food for the nation ; what has the man achieved in his life except lay down the krooked path to hide monies in suspense accounts so it can be shared at a later date by these NDC KROOKS ; this times no more northers/Ewes in any key positions again ;do these officials at the BOG ythink people are not watchhing them ; all CEO's should be cleared from the stables by Nana Addo -PRONTO !!!!!!!; if NDC gets the chance to come to power in 2030 they can do same -NO PROBLEM !!!!!KWARAAA!!!!!; but in the mean time just get rid of these 'BONGO'NDC KROOKS !!!
Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt is a big FoooooooooooooL
But for Mahama, this guy wouldn't have qualified for the job: Not even a deputy. Why are they always hiding his first and second degrees at Maharishi University? Why couldn't he go for his PhD in Economics or Agriculture? Anyway, even Amissah Arthur had that position.
