Prudential Bank Limited (PB) is to embark on a programme to increase its branches and agencies from 24 to 30 by end of the year.

The programme aims at establishing PB's presence in major strategic centres of economic activity in the country to provide convenient and time saving banking services to the business community.

Mr. Joseph Okine-Afrane, Deputy Managing Director in-charge of Finance, Credit and Administration of the PB announced this on Monday during the opening of an agency at the Dansoman campus of the Methodist University College of Ghana (MUCG) in Accra.

He said during the 13 years of its existence, the bank had been providing excellent banking services as well as developing rewarding products which had won it enviable banking awards and listing on the Ghana Club 100 index.

On the agency, he said management brokered a deal with authorities of the university to allow the students pay their school fees on-line through the bank's branches.

Mr. Okine-Afrane said management had also developed a special package to provide both the staff and non-teaching staff facilities to purchase household items as well as take mortgage loans to acquire their personal houses.

He said apart from normal banking operations, the bank was also introducing to the university community products such as Prudential Business Savings Account, Welfare Savings Account and the Anidaso Susu Savings Account which would enable customers earn enough on their savings to expand their businesses.

Mr. Okine-Afrane called on the students to cultivate savings culture to ensure that they had funds readily available to establish their own businesses after completing school.

Reverend Professor Samuel Kwasi Adjepong, Principal of MUCG, commended the management for its assistance in terms of donations to the university over the years.

He explained that the deal for students to pay school fees through the bank would ease pressures on the authorities during payment of school fees as well as improve the management of students' financial records.

Rev. Prof. Adjepong said the move was in line with the university's policy to introduce on-line payment of school fees which would improve data collection on students.
