The auto trend for performance, style and the growing interest in AMG cars in the world including Ghana has increased. In a bid to meet the growing demand in Ghana’s automobile Industry, Silver Star Auto, local distributors of Mercedes-Benz vehicles will host a grand launch in Accra to introduce the vehicle unto the market.
The launch which is slated for this week is expected to assemble stakeholders and gurus in Ghana’s Automobile industry to witness the birth of a whole new world of driving performance.
AMG comes with supreme automotive performance, safety, exclusivity, efficiency and highly dynamic driving pleasure. The company was founded by Hans Werner Aufrecht (A) and Erhard Melcher (M), while Aufrecht's birthplace of Grossaspach (G) is the third letter in the name of an independent division of Mercedes-Benz hence AMG stands for "Aufrecht Melcher Grossaspach" which basically designs and manufactures all the AMG engines of Mercedes-Benz AMG Line.
More exciting feature about AMG models are that they have more aggressive looks, a higher level of performance, better handling, better stability and more extensive use of carbon fibre than their regular Mercedes-Benz counterparts. AMG models are typically the highest-performing variant of each Mercedes-Benz class.
AMG variants are usually badged with two numerals, as opposed to regular Mercedes-Benz vehicles, which have three (e.g., GL 43 as opposed to GLE 400). Traditionally, the two numerical digits signified the engine's displacement size, however, recent models have deviated from such correlation.
Another popular cosmetic upgrade are the AMG body kits. These ranged from subtle front spoilers, an aggressive Wide Body kits and Alloy Wheels. Other options include special seats, smaller diameter steering wheels, instrument clusters, chrome option (colour-coded or painted satin black), shift knobs, hi-fi stereo systems, custom upholstery and enhanced interior wood packages.
All AMG engines - with the exception of the "43" M276 3.0 L V6 Bi-Turbo engine, are hand built using a "one man, one engine" philosophy at the current AMG plant in Affalterbach, Germany. To signify this, each AMG engine builder stamps the engines they produce with an engraved plaque depicting their signature. According to Mercedes-Benz, there are only about 50 AMG engine builders.
Briefing the media on the impending launch, Mr. Nouhad Kalmoni, Chief Executive Officer of SSAL said the company was delighted to host the first ever launch of Mercedes-AMG in the country, in anticipation of one of the greatest driving experience Ghana’s automobile industry is about to witness.
