Zain Introduces BlackBerry Phones

Zain Ghana has introduced BlackBerry® solution, which brings together Smartphones, softwares and services and would allow easy wireless access to e-mail, phone, calendar, web, multi-media and other business and lifestyle applications into the Ghanaian market.

Customers of Zain would now enjoy the freedom and benefits of using BlackBerry® Smartphone to stay connected to people and information. During the launch, Marketing Manager of Zain, Ransford Nyarko, revealed that the BlackBerry solution underscores Zain’s commitment in revolutionizing the Telecommunication industry of the country.

He said: “We are the masters of innovation. This is another important launch from Zain and it further demonstrates our commitment in giving customers state-of-the-art mobile telecommunication services.” Zain Ghana has stated that it would offer the BlackBerry Storm, BlackBerry Curve 8900, BlackBerry Bold and BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 Smartphone to its customers in the country.

The BlackBerry Storm Smartphone is the world’s first “clickable” touch-screen phone, which features the award-winning SurePress touch screen and also depresses slightly when the screen is pressed to dramatically enhance the touch interface of both typing and navigation. The BlackBerry Storm Smartphone delivers renowned usability and performance of the Blackberry solution with powerful communications and rich multi-media features.

The BlackBerry Bold, which is a communication and multi-media powerhouse, is the first BlackBerry Smartphone to support tri-band HSDPA and high-speed networks around the world and comes with integrated GPS and Wi-Fi. The BlackBerry Curve 8900 has a wide range of advanced communications and multi-media capabilities and is the thinnest and lightest full-Qwerrty BlackBerry Smartphone available.

In addition to being an exceptional mobile phone that offers access to e-mail, messaging, organizer, web browser and multi-media applications, the new BlackBerry Curve 8900 Smartphone features a built in Wi-Fi, GPS for location- based applications, Bluetooth 2.0, a next generation processor (512MHz) and a dazzling Hi-resolution display.

The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 Smartphone packs the power of the BlackBerry platform into a sleek flip design, which provides a wide range of features that the users of BlackBerry Smartphone have come to love. Zain Ghana confirmed that it would offer BlackBerry® Enterprise Server and BlackBerry® Internet Services to corporate customers, smaller businesses and individual users.

The BlackBerry Enterprise Server software tightly integrates with IBM®, Lotus®, Domino®, Microsoft® Exchange and Novell®, GroupWise® and uses advanced encryption and IT features that would enable a secured, push-based wireless access for corporate data.

BlackBerry Internet Service is also designed for smaller businesses and individuals and allows customers to access up to 10 supported corporate and personal e-mail accounts including most popular ISP E-mail accounts, such as Yahoo! Mail and Google Mail from a single device. The introduction of the BlackBerry® solution into the country by Zain Ghana was in collaboration with Emitac Mobile Solutions (EMS) and Research In Motion (RIM).

EMS is a Dubai-based solutions and service provider that provides mobile operators with sales, marketing, distribution, solution implementation and technical support services through BlackBerry wireless platform. RIM on the other hand is a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of innovative wireless solutions for the world-wide mobile communications market.
