The Deputy Energy Minister, Mr Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, has said that the excess revenue from the two crude oil consignments lifted from the Jubilee Oilfields would be used for social interventions in the country.
He said Ghana pegged the oil price at $80 per barrel but attracted $155 per barrel on the world market. Mr Buah said the excess profit of $25 would be used to help the youth nationwide to establish themselves in various vocations.
Mr Buah made this known during a durbar of chiefs and people of Half Assini on Monday. He said the government had already procured tools and equipment with the excess revenue from the oil to settle the youth who have undergone job apprenticeship.
He said the government is moving from infrastructure and provision of classroom blocks into human resource development, adding hairdryers, welding machines, sewing machines have been purchased for distribution the youth.
Mr Buah said the Supplementary budget presented to Parliament had a lot of prospects for the youth and called for the cooperation of all Ghanaians.
