Delta Air Lines today announced increased service between
Accras Kotoka International Airport and Roberts International Airport in Monrovia, Liberia, as it responds to increasing customer demand for intra-Africa flights.
Delta will operate three weekly flight between the airports, with service on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, on 243-seat Airbus A330-200 aircraft featuring 30 seats in BusinessElite as well as Delta's new Economy Comfort class, which offers additional legroom and early boarding.
We have seen strong demand for our intra-Africa services from our Ghanaian customers, since we launched this service in January, with nearly 2,000 passengers travelling between Accra and Monrovia, said Bobby Bryan, Deltas commercial manager West and East Africa. These
flights complement our existing nonstop services to the U.S. with convenient overnight services everyday from Ghana to either New York-JFK or Atlanta.
Delta is investing more than $2 billion to improve the customer experience in the air and on the ground. Effective 1 June, Delta introduced a premium economy section, Economy Comfort, on all its intra-Africa services, including its flights from Ghana. The new seats will feature up to four additional inches of legroom and 50 percent more recline than Deltas standard international Economy class seats.
In addition, Delta plans to offer full flat-bed seating in BusinessElite on all international widebody flights by 2013. Delta also is investing in enhancing ground services. The airline recently upgraded its gate facilities in Accra and is currently renovating its gates in Liberia, which will open later this summer.
Customers travelling between Accra and Monrovia will be able to check up to four bags. Information on weight restrictions is available at delta.com. Delta services between Ghana and Liberia and the United States are available for booking via travel agents and Deltas
dedicated reservations teams in Accra, at 021-213111, and in Kumasi, at 051-31121.
