Glo Mobile Ghana, as part of activities marking the launch of its operations, has announced plans to provide a facility that will enable members of the public reserve their preferred numbers on the 023-3… number series of the Glo Mobile Network.

A statement issued and signed by the Head of Public Relations at Glo Mobile Ghana, Ekow Quarcoo, said the reservations will be subject to availability and accordingly be conducted on a first-come-first-served basis.

“The facility will require members of the public to SMS (txt) their preferred numbers to a designated number. The public is hereby reminded that in accordance with National Communications Authority (NCA) guidelines on Number Registration, no individual shall be permitted to reserve more than five (5) Glo Mobile numbers and these numbers will only be activated upon successful registration after the network has been launched,” the statement added.

To conclude a number reservation, customers will be required to bring along the number from which the reservation was made as proof of identity in order to redeem the SIM card of their special number for services.

Glo Mobile Ghana Limited is a subsidiary of Globacom Limited, Africa’s fastest growing Telecommunications Company. Owned by Nigerian entrepreneur, Dr. Mike Adenuga Jnr, Globacom acquired its operating licence for business in Ghana in 2008 and during the past three years, has pursued a rigorous programme of developing a world-class telecommunications service which emphasises reliability, efficiency and affordability for the majority of Ghanaians.

The Glo network derives much of its strength from the massive backbone support it receives from Glo 1, the high capacity state-of-the-art submarine cable which berthed in Ghana in 2009 and was commissioned last April.

The Glo 1 fibre optic cable is the first individually owned submarine cable in Africa and the only such facility connecting West Africa to the United Kingdom. The Glo 1 Cable will guarantee access to ultra-fast and reliable internet connectivity and will be the driving force for the business community, not only in Ghana but across West Africa.

It will also provide the platform for robust applications such as video conferencing, telemedicine, distance learning and customized services like data centres and wireless Virtual Private Network (VPN).

Virtually all sectors of the Ghanaian economy will benefit immensely from the window of global opportunities that Glo 1 and the Glo Mobile network will offer.

The official launch of the Glo Mobile Ghana Network is scheduled for mid-November.
