The Public Relations Officer of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Mr. Mustapha Salifu has confirmed media reports that the management of the hospital is collecting money from patients before allowing them to use the toilet facilities.
Users pay between 10Gp and 30Gp.
In an interview with Adom News, the Korle bu PRO said the toilet facilities at the Hospital have been handed over to a private enterprise to manage and maintain.
Defending the move, Mr. Salifu noted that the private company only charges for toilets outside the various wards but the ones inside the wards are for free.
He says the fee is not to make profit for the private company but to maintain the toilets.
