Onion sellers at the Agbogbloshie Market in Accra last week received a certificate from officials of the Department of Cooperatives.
The certificate was issued in the name of their organization, Famous Cooperative Onion Marketing Society Limited.
According to the president of the cooperative, Sumaila Iddi, they came together to access the benefits of togetherness and to give seriousness to the source of their livelihood.
By the formation of the cooperative, he pointed out that they would be able to enhance their business and serve their customers better.
The Agbogbloshie onion market is the source of the item in the nation’s capital and beyond.
Onions are imported into the country from Niger, Burkina Faso and locally from Bawku, providing employment to many persons.
