There could not have been a better means of giving meaning to MTN’s vision of leading the delivery of a bold new digital world in the Easter season than what was witnessed by the patrons of this year’s Kwahu Easter festivities.

During the celebration, MTN treated the patrons to an internet carnival at Kwahu from 18th to 21st of April 2014, bringing to the celebrants the much-touted ifest experience.

There were activations of affordable data packages, updates on maximizing MTN data experience and data settings on phones for Easter celebrants in Kwahu.

This exercise was executed by data ambassadors and MTN canvassers who were stationed at vantage points in Kwahu to provide internet and data bundle activations and ensure enhanced customer experience. Data ambassadors assisted customers who needed to activate data bundles and also provided internet settings for customers who wanted to use internet on their phones and devices. This exercise was to also ensure that all MTN customers are internet savvy and can easily access simple internet services.

Before the Easter celebrations, MTN on the 10th of April 2014 had presented a total sum of GH 7,000 Ghana cedis to four traditional communities in Kwahu in support of the Kwahu Easter festival.

For the 7th year running, MTN donated GH 2,000 cedis, 500 Ghana cedis worth of airtime and a drinks hamper to the Kwahu Paramount seat at Abene, while the chiefs and elders of Obomeng, Mpraeso and Obo received 1,200 Ghana cedis and 300 Ghana cedis worth of airtime each and a hamper containing drinks and MTN souvenirs as the company’s support for the 2014 Kwahu Easter festival.

Presenting the cash and other items to the chiefs and elders at Abene, Obo, Obomeng and Mpraeso, the Sales and Distribution Manager of MTN for Eastern and Volta Regions, Mr. Prince Nyarko, said MTN has been an ardent supporter of the Kwahu Easter Festival because of the social and economic benefits the festival brings to people in that area. He said especially appreciates the way communities participate in development projects during these celebrations.

Mr Nyarko also indicated that MTN would continue to give back to communities through Corporate Social Investment initiatives. He said MTN through its Foundation has invested over GHs 14.5 million in Corporate Social Investment projects in the areas of health, education and economic empowerment. Out of this investment a total of one million Ghana cedis has been invested in the Eastern Region alone. He said some recent investments in the Eastern Region include a 50 seater ICT center for University College of Environmental Studies located in Kyebi, a 20 seater ICT center for Akropong School for the Blind and a 33 seater bus and a 10 seater ICT center for Annum Bosso Anglican Primary School.

Thanking MTN, the chiefs lauded MTN’s continuous support to the communities during the festive season. According to them MTN is the only organization that has consistently kept faith with them for seven consecutive years. The chiefs urged MTN to continue with the good work and also prayed for the continuous growth of the business.

As part of MTN’s initiative to support and promote Ghanaian culture and heritage, the company supported over 15 traditional festivals across the country. Some of the festivals supported include the Odambia festival, Oguaa Fetu Afahye, Ada Asafotufiami, Asogli, Kobine and others.
