Samara Company Limited, producers of Sasso Insecticide Spray and Coil, has won the ‘Fastest Growing Company’ at the 2015 edition of the Head Of State Awards Scheme (HOSA), organized by the government of Ghana on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at the State Banquet Hall in Accra.

Organized on the theme: “Rewarding Business in Support of Youth Development.”, the event sought to recognized individuals and corporate institutions that have distinguished themselves in their various fields of work.

Sasso won in a category that had Surfline, a telecommunications network, as its only competitor.

Samara Company Limited was amongst twenty (20) corporate institutions which were honoured for their support to youth growth in Ghana. Also, twenty (20) young individuals were adorned with the National Gold Award for their exceptional contribution to national development.

The HOSA award makes it the third for the company in two consecutive years. In 2014, Premier Brand Ghana, a private research institute which rewards discipline in branding named Samara Company Limited as the “Top Emerging Brand” and “Fastest Growing Brand”.

Sharing his views on the award after the event, the Executive Chairman of Samara Company Limited, Mr. Samson Effah Appraku, described the award as a “big honour”.

He added that “to be awarded the fastest company in a whole nation is something I can’t describe; I wasn’t expecting it at all, but I know with God all things are possible.”

Mr. Effah Appraku said the award is going to motivate him and the Sasso team to work harder to satisfy Ghanaians in terms of quality.

“I feel motivated to do more for my country (Ghana) in terms of producing best quality products, more job creation for the youth; and do whatever it takes to put up a production plant for our products,” he said emphatically.

The Marketing Manager of Sasso, Mr. Sedrick Nartey Ologo, expressed his delight on the feat attained by the company; saying “Sasso being recognized by the State means the product is a superior brand which has come to stay.”

He said the company would not relent on its efforts in churching out more quality products onto the Ghanaian market.

In a speech read by the Minister of Education, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, it was disclosed that the government was committed in investing enormously in youth development; a reason the government had rolled out some initiatives such as the Youth Enterprise Development Fund to promote youth development.

The speech indicated that it was commendable that corporate institutions in the country were focusing their activities on youth development and that the country needed more of such establishments to support the awards scheme for more young people to be equipped to develop their communities.

The President said: “The awards seek to develop and maximise the potential of young people through selfless community service, challenges of adventure, skills development and physical recreation to make them exceptional individuals who can contribute to national development.”

Mr. Peter Akai Anum, The Executive Director of HOSA, Ghana, said the awards programme kept on playing a vital role in the sub-region and the world at large in terms of impact and best practice.

Mr. Anum was hopeful that the awards will challenge other youth and corporate institutions to give off their best.
