Trade and Industry Minister in the Nana Akufo-Addo government, Hon. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen as part of his government policy to support the private sector investment in the country has cut the sod to initiate the development of Ayi Mensah Park.

The Ayi Mensah Park is a gated 218-mixed use residential development situated at the foot of the Aburi Mountains, opposite the Ayi Mensah Police station in the Greater Accra Region.

Ayi Mensah Park is an initiative of IndigoHomes, a BlackIvy Ghana Limited in collaboration with land owner Mercury Estates and the caretaker chief of Ayi Mensah to lay the foundations for the delivery of the homes and infrastructure.

Speaking to Peacefmonline.com, Hon. Alan Kyerematen indicated that his government has provided the enabling environment which is very supportive of the private sector development; making it possible for the US investors investing with their private partners from Ghana.

“If the environment is not conducive the investment will not be made in the first place. You are aware of the number of incentives and policy interventions that government has already introduced to support the private sector in the area of taxes and levies,” he averred.

He added that Nana Akufo-Addo’s government has already launched very comprehensive program to reform regulations in support of private sector development.

“We are looking at improving our ranking on the World Bank business index and our objective is to make Ghana the most business friendly country in the whole of Africa. Obviously that comes with challenges but the point is that we launched a program to deal with all those key challenges that have confronted our private sector,” he revealed.

He again mentioned that his government wants to be responsive to the specific needs of investors; thus, apart from the general incentives that the government provides on the case by case basis depending on the specific circumstances of a particular investor, his government will support investment.

He emphasized that this initiative by IndigoHomes and BlackIvy will contribute to reducing the gap that currently exist in the delivery of homes in the country as there is a deficit of about 2 million housing units which seems to be growing at an average of 120,000 units every year.

“So you can imagine the gap that needs to be filled. For all of us as individuals, I believe that one of the things we all dream of is to have a roof over our heads and so any intervention and initiative that delivers homes and housing units is one that needs to be appreciated,” he stated.

He further appreciated the fact that the Ayi Mensah Park project is using a technology that will provide the basis of reducing the cost of delivering homes and housing units; reiterating that the technology for this development provide concretes everybody needs for their homes.

“I know there are a number of technologies that are emerging in this country; Ghanaians don’t have money but they want to see concretes and building blocks. The interesting thing about this particular technology is that you get the concretes that you are looking for and at the same time, you are getting quality homes which is delivered to you with speed,” he revealed.

He however was enthused by the fact that such project as Ayi Mensah Park is creating jobs for most Ghanaians as it is helping the government to deliver its promise of job creation.

He stressed that government is looking for foreign investment with Ghanaian partnership such as this project as by so doing the country will attract private capital to develop the local enterprise base.

The Ayi Mensah Park development will consist of 1-bedroom luxury condos, 2-bedroom terrace townhomes and 3-bedroom semi-detached townhomes currently priced from $70, 500.

Ayi Mensah Park home designs include: open floor plans; gourmet kitchens with deep basin sinks and modern appliances; covered outdoor kitchen; engineered stone countertops; master bedroom suite with dual vanities; spacious closets and terrace balconies with mountain views.

Total estimated cost for the Ayi Mensah Park is $30 million dollars.
