You Cannot Bring Back The Love When You Perceive Others As Enemies

Having spent inordinately longer hours reading opinion pieces, listening to radio discussions with their concomitant critical viewpoints with respect to President Kurt Okraku's interview granted on Accra-based Joy FM last week that he cannot work with people who do not believe in his leadership regardless of their worth of experience and knowledge about the game, I have come to some conclusions.

It was a guff, an avoidable one, if my opinions were sought.

In principle, leaders, many a time, work with people who share in their ideological beliefs and values. These are people who understand the nuances that define the leaders' core objectives and belief systems.

Much as this should occupy the thoughts of a leader worth his salt, same must not be propagated in words.

It is equally important for a leader not to see opponents as enemies. There is a fine line between partisan politics and football administration. Even in partisan politics, it is not an encouraging phenomenon to refer to those from the other side as enemies. The lexical item 'opponents' is preferred.

Kurt referring to some people as enemies is not only repugnant but defies conventional logic.

It beggars belief that for someone who is championing the #BringBacktheLove campaign would turn around to describe others as enemies. The enemies, it is trite knowledge, would find no motivation to join in that crusade.

Something doesn't add up. I find some incongruities in Kurt appointing Tamimu as the acting communications director of the Ghana Football Association when he knew that the young man held ideas which did not synchronize with those he holds dear to his heart.

If I were in a position to advise President Kurt Okraku, I would simply ask him to refrain from such comments which breed enmities amongst football people and their supporters.

President Kurt Okraku needs everybody on board to develop Ghana football. In fact, he needs the so-called enemies more than they need him. They, he should know, have nothing to lose.

To those peeved by what President Okraku said, it is time you threw the hurt out of the window. It is not about Kurt. If he fails, we all fail. If he succeeds, Ghana football is the winner.
