I was at Wonoo yesterday, to pay my respects to the late Sir John, a past general secretary and also a remarkable personality who paid his dues to the party.
Immediately, I arrived, I noticed to my astonishment a group of people wearing T-shirts in support of Vice-president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the presidency. .
These young men and women, some in red T-shirts and others in black T-shirts, in blatant disregard for party regulations, openly campaignes for Dr. Bawumia thereby making mockery of an occasion meant for sombre reflection of dearly departed one.
The Bawumia supporters had banners posted all over the park in open and shameful campaign for their candidate at an event meant to be a solemn one for a departed party stalwart.
This is not the first time that the pro-Bawumia group have flouted party regulations which restrains open campaigning for any of the aspiring presidential candidates pending directives from the party hierarchy.
What marks this one out is that it was done in the plain glare of the President Nana Akufo-Addo, the Vice-president, Dr Bawumia, top echelons of government and all the party executive.
The group, l believe, felt emboldened to go about things the way they did because in the past they have gone unpunished.
Onlookers are watching as to what sanctions the party will Impose them as General-Secretary John Boadu had promised.
Or was his directive only to stop the aspirants, including Alan Kyerematen, Addai-Nimo and others, all of whom were present but kept their supporters in check, from indulging in any activities while Bawumia was given a headstart?
And now can Dr. Bawumia continue to deny knowledge of the Movement for Bawumia as he has done in past, especially, as he was seen gleefully acknowledging their chants with a wave of his hands as he sat in his vehicle?
We await answers and action. Eyes are watching.
