Challenging Heights announced today that it has appointed Ms. Theodora Aidoo as its Communications Manager. Theodora, a trained Journalist from Nigerian Institute of Journalism, joins Challenging Heights from The Manager’s Magazine of Nigeria, having served as a Staff Writer.

She will lead Challenging Heights’ efforts at promoting access to basic and second cycle education for children, and the prevention of child labor in Ghana.

Theodora comments “I am excited to start a new chapter with Challenging Heights and look forward to working with the team to further actualize its mission. I am fortunate to be joining such a respected organization that pride itself in child rights issues.”

The organisation also made other appointments. Emma-Marian Appiah has been appointed as the Programs Manager. She takes over from David Kofi Awusi. David Kofi Awusi who has served Challenging Heights for nearly six years has now been appointed as the Evaluation and Capacity Building Manager. Steven Addo, formally a Programs Officer, becomes the Field Operations Manager.

These new appointees brings with them years of experience and expertise from various fields and services to both government agencies and private industry as well as Non-governmental Organizations.

James Kofi Annan, President of Challenging Heights said “I expect more from the appointees”. We view these appointments as an important step towards building capacity for the promotion of the rights of children to education and freedom from forced labour.

Challenging Heights, since it was founded in 2003, has supported close to 10,000 children and women, including over 1,000 children rescued from forced labor on Lake Volta. It currently operates in 40 different communities across six different districts in Ghana. It works with fishing communities, and presently employs over 50 staff. It has won eight major international awards, and has currently been nominated for the World Children’s Prize.
