Branislav Ivanovic scored his fourth goal in six games but Chelsea dropped two points as Burnley fought back and the Barclays Premier League leaders will be without Nemanja Matic for next week’s Capital One Cup final.
Matic will pay for a flash of temper, sent off 20 minutes from time for a retaliatory shove on Ashley Barnes, having been fortunate to escape injury after a terrible tackle by the Burnley striker.
Barnes could have broken Matic’s leg as he caught him with a strong studs-up challenge, just above an ankle. Matic leapt to his feet, chased his opponent and pushed him to the ground and was shown the red card by referee Martin Atkinson.
