One woman drowned and 15 people were hurt after rain and hail struck parts of the country, French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced on Sunday.
The woman died in the northern city of Rouen when she became trapped under a car in a mudslide.
On Saturday, large parts of the country were hit by thundershowers, with hailstones the size of golf balls leaving a trail of destruction in the Landes and Gers departments in the southwest.
Up to 5,000 hectares of vineyard and thousands of hectares of cropland were hit in Gers. The weather service recorded around 50,000 lightning strikes. Some 15,000 households were left without electricity supplies.
