A student accused of threatening to kill the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Sefwi-Akontombra, has been remanded into prison custody by a Kumasi Circuit Court.
Osei Antwi, 20, denied the charge and would make his next appearance on July 2.
He is said to have called the DCE, Mr Peter Nkuah, on his cellular phone, introduced himself as an armed robber hired by some people to rob and kill him.
The accused demanded cash payment of GH10,000.00 to spare the DCE;s life.
Police Inspector Gulliver Kwabena Tenkorang told the court presided over by Mr William Boampong that the incident happened on June 11.
Mr Nkuah became alarmed and reported the matter to the Police who succeeded in luring Antwi to Kumasi, where he was arrested.
The prosecution said the accused admitted making the threats and cash demand in his caution statement.
