A 72-year-old farmer, Kwasi Donkor, was found dead in his farm, which is just 500 metres away from his house at Odumase, a suburb of Begoro in the Fanteakwa District.
Confirming the story to the Ghana News Agency in Koforidua , Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kofi Nketsia-Yeboah, the Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, said the Begoro District Command received the information and rushed to the scene.
He said the Police found the deceased lying lifeless in a pool of blood, with multiple cutlass wounds on all parts of his body.
ASP Nketsia-Yeboah said the body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Begoro District Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.
He said the Police is mapping up vigorous investigations into the incident to unearth the culprits behind Donkor�s death.
The PRO, however, appealed to the public for information on suspects who might be behind the murder to enable the police effect their arrest.
