THE Nkawkaw Divisional Police taskforce in the Eastern Region arrested Rexford Agyapong, 31, a native of Kwahu Abetifi, on Monday dawn for stealing several quantities of cables belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
The Nkawkaw Divisional Police Commander, Chief Supt James Sarfo Peprah, who confirmed the arrest to DAILY GUIDE, said the police upon a tipoff arrested the suspect with some burnt electric cables.
According to Chief Supt Sarfo Peprah, the suspect upon interrogation claimed ownership of the cables and mentioned one Paul Aben, 41, a Nigerian who is a scrap dealer in Accra, as his accomplice. The police consequently busted Aben on Tuesday afternoon.
Chief Supt Sarfo Peprah added that the suspect, Rexford, an ex-convict who just finished his five-year jail term, was arraigned before the Mpraeso Circuit Court on Tuesday and was remanded in police custody to reappear on 2nd February.
