The Upper West Regional Directorate of the Ghana Education Service has taken delivery of 90 lap-top computers for distribution to three primary schools in the region under the One lap-top per Child project.
The Wa Model Primary School in the Wa Municipality, Egala Primary School in the Sissala East District and the Saint Anthony Primary School in the Jirapa Districtreceived 30 lap-tops each.
Mr. Cletus Paaga, the Regional Director of Education, handed over the computers to the directors of the districts in which the beneficiary schools are located at a brief ceremony at Wa on Thursday.
He said the availability of electricity and rooms to put the computers were the major criteria used in selecting the schools that benefited from the lap-tops.
Mr. Paaga appealed to the head teachers of the beneficiary schools to ensure that they were put to the use as directed by the Director-General of the GES.
He said under no circumstances should they be carried away from the classrooms and urged the District Directors of Education to make sure that they were used for their intended purpose.
