The veterinary division of the Ministry of Health in the Upper East Region has commenced vaccination against the Anthrax disease in the Googo town of Bawku West District.
Slaughtering of cattle has been banned in the area to curb the spread of the Anthrax disease.
The disease since its outbreak has killed two people and affected a number of animals.
Speaking to Citi News, the Veterinary Officer in the Upper East region, Thomas Ayarikia said the vaccination exercise would last for two weeks.
We will continue the vaccination to cover the whole of the Bawku district. It is for vaccination for livestock only, he told Citi News.
He encouraged the people in the district to burn the carcass of the affected animals immediately in order to curb the spread of the disease.
