The demolition of the pedestrian footbridge at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra has started to make way for the construction of an interchange at the busy intersection in the capital city of Accra.
One side of the bridge was pulled down at the weekend. The other half is expected to be pulled down next weekend.
The contractors are expected to construct a tunnel to enable pedestrians cross the dual carriageway without coming into contact with vehicular traffic.
According to the contractors, the tunnels, when finished would have mirrors at both ends to aid pedestrians in crossing the road at the ends.
