The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, has presented 350 jungle motorcycles estimated at 500,000 US dollars to the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in the region.
The presentation was in fulfillment of government's promise to support the service to bring health care to the doorsteps the ordinary Ghanaian.
Presenting the keys of the motorcycles to the Regional Director of Health Services, Dr Erasmus Agongo, at a short ceremony at Koforidua on Monday, Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo said the motorcycles would help the GHS to achieve its targets in the region.
Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo urged the beneficiaries of the motorcycles to take good care of them as they propagate health messages to all including the rural communities to reduce the prevalence of HIV in the region.
Dr. Agongo thanked the government and the Regional Minister for the presentation and said the motorcycles would be given to staff of Health Centres and CHIP centres in the region where the staff are engaged in extension services to deliver health care services.
He appealed to the government to provide more vehicles to the region to support its monitoring activities.
