The African Women's Development Fund (AWDF), which is a women's empowerment non-governmental organization, has inaugurated a research centre which would seek to help build the capacity of women in research work.
The $100,000 centre, which was funded by donors of the AWDF, including the African Capacity Building Fund (ACBF), based in Zimbabwe would be accessible to all and be free of charge.
Inaugurating the facility on Wednesday, Dr Frannie Leautier, Executive Secretary of ACBF, praised AWDF for the initiative and for its judicious use of funds.
She appealed to the organisation to keep to its track of championing the cause of women in the country and beyond.
Mrs Bisi Adeleye, Executive Director, AWDF, cited writings by African women, historical figures on Africa's development and audio visuals as some of the materials stocked at the centre.
"We also have books and report on the human rights situation of women, books on peace building, philanthropy and financial management," she said.
