LOVING mother gorilla Salome cradles her newborn baby tenderly after it was born � in Bristol. Salome gave birth to the Western lowland gorilla, an endangered species, at the city's Zoo Gardens on Tuesday.
The zoo is part of a conservation breeding programme and the new baby is Salome's third there. Her last one was born through fertility treatment, but the new one was conceived naturally with dad Jock. Senior curator John Partridge said: "Salome is a great mother."
