The Vice-President, Mr. John Dramani Mahama, yesterday paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei tutu ll, at the Manhyia Palace to express his condolences to him and Ashanti Traditional Council on the death of Otumfuo Akonfrehene, Nana Boakye Atonsah Ababio.
Mr. Mahama, accompanied by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Kwaku Agyemang-Mensah, and the Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Mr. Samuel Sarpong, exchanged pleasantries with Otumfuo Osei Tutu ll.
Nana Ababio, who was in charge of Asantehene�s security details, died about two months ago at the age of 58.
The Asantehene paid tribute to Otumfuo Akonfrehene for his bravery, courage, creativity and a sense of responsibility.
The Vice-President and his entourage later paid their last respects to Nana Ababiom, who had been laid in state.
Shortly after the Vice President had filed past the body and resumed his seat, a family delegation, clad in mourning clothes, exchanged greetings with him and his entourage.
There was drumming and horn blowing, whilst some of the mourners played dirges as they moved in procession to pay their last respects.
