The Aflao Police has arrested an Immigration Officer for allegedly smuggling nine Chinese nationals into the country.
The officer whose name is being withheld was arrested with the Chinese men on an unapproved road in Ghana.
There has been an influx of Chinese immigrants in the country with some of them engaging in illegal miners as well as lumbering.
In an interview with Citi News the Chief Superintendent of the Aflao Divisional Police Command, Emmanuel Donkor stated that the officer �was arrested for smuggling Chinese nationals from Togo through unlawful route to Ghana.�
He indicated that because they don�t have a unit to deal with human smuggling or trafficking, they have �being handed over together with the nine Chinese nationals to the Volta Regional Police Command.�
