The government has acquired a $2.7-million vessel to operate on the Volta Lake. The vessel will augment river transport services on the lake.
A former Managing Director of the Volta Lake Transport Limited, Mr Martin Hiles, who undertook the installation of the vessel for the Ministry of Transport, told the Daily Graphic that the vessel had the capacity to carry 300 people.
He said the double-decker vessel was also capable of carrying nine trucks and 15 vehicles.
Mr Hiles said the procurement of the vessel underscored the importance the government attached to the development of the Volta Lake transport system.
