Former NDC MP for the La Dadekotopon constituency, Nii-Amasah Namoale has condemned the circulation of a vile video showing a young girl being gang-raped purported to have occurred in the Ashanti Region, Kumasi.
He joined the chorus of numerous Ghanaians who find the five minute act as “unfortunate” yet punishable offence by the juveniles.
Speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show dubbed ‘Ghana Montie’; Namoale however noted that in as much as the offence is immoral, the ‘under age’ wrongdoers’ future must be protected.
“Let’s not ruin the future of these young ones. Let’s be circumspect with the kind of punishment awarded to them. Yes, what they did was wrong, but we can transform them to campaign against this act among the youth,” he said.
A five minutes video shows a girl purported to be 18years pinned to a mattress by one of her abusers while his accomplices take turns to perform sexual acts on her.
The victim who was resisting her attackers all-through the ordeal was restrained from escaping by her abusers who appeared to be having fun with the torture one after the other.
The police have so far arrested three of the suspects as four are on the run.

@ MAA, do not trivialize the issue ok.What do you mean they they should not be given harsh punishment.Let the law be applied to the letter to serve as a deterrent.Have you given a thought on the emotional torture the poor victim is going through?Have you thought about the stigma this unfortunate incident will have on her future? You have no idea do you?You were silent on that and that shows your shallow argument. Please let the law work and there should not be any trivialization of this evil act.The perpetrators should be dealt with according to the laws of Ghana.RAPE is a serious crime and should be treated as such.Failure to administer justice to the victim could cause serious future vendettas.Remember the cases of biblical Diana and Hamor,Tamar and Amnon.
These kids needs to be punished severely. The punishment shd include 20 lashes each. I agree that their future shdnt be in jeopardy due to this offence. they investigation shd tell how many times they have been involved in this kind of habit. it looks to me this is not the only one. some of them could not even get an erection. they shd be punished very well to serve as a deterrent to others. That is somebody's future wife they were torturing like that. I feel sorry for them bcos their case has become a national case and the prosecuting lawyers are more than the defending lawyers.
This one too is a leader in gh?dont blame him: every f,o.ol can parade as a leader in this country. These cro.oked politicians take us for fo.ols having a field day lo.o,ting the public purse bcos they know there will be no consequences.Even advanced democracies like the US hs juveniles serving life sentences for crimes. These use,l.ess politicians think bn a juvenile is an excuse to commit crimes.Kids their age are building rockets and future technologies but in ghana they are referred to as babies and not responsible for their actions.Has any of these ***barred word*** thought of the trauma ,STDS etc the girl might hv been subjected to?.Gh a jungle where the laws do not work. This country will remain the cesspool it it till minds and attitudes change.Kw,asias.em
Ghanaian politicians/leaders are worse than Lucifer. They have their kids living in luxury abroad so dont really care what happens to the poor mans kid.Imagine if this lady involved was the kid of this politician. He would have invoked thunder and brimstone.Even the US hs juveniles serving life sentences for their crimes. You do the crime,be prepared to suffer the consequences and do the time. There are millions of innocent juveniles in Ghana with no future due to the massive corruption and ***barred word*** of the public purse by cro,o.ked politicians especially the ndc lo.o,ting brigade which this man is a member and he is here talking about protecting the future of criminals. The victim is traumatized for life but ignor.ant ghs wont know that.***barred word***
This is one compassionate submission that I agree with Namoale. First of all, they are juveniles in school and their future must be protected and that doesn't mean they shouldn't be punished. You do st*pid things when you are a teenager and especially in school, you try to show you are grown and that you tough it happens everywhere. So they can be giving a communal labour to disgrace them and warn them to be of good behaviour for certain time. They might be first time offenders so harsh punishment is not advisable considering their teen age behaviour. A teenager killed his mates in school in N/Y and has been left off the hook considering his age and what triggered that killing. He was always being bullied by those guys but because of his age and his future the court let him go.
Who said the girl was being abused? BANTAMA? You should know what happens at bantama.
so was or is this person is an MP?
and this person wants to be president of Ghana. I pity Ghana for such caliber of persons thinking they are fit to be president to allow evil thrive over good. it is a pity to listen to such kind of brains coming to bore us in the media. The media houses can not approach people of better substance or what?
stop that ***barred word*** talk, wait when jevunile rape your daughter then you can orotect them.you want to creat impression that you are a good person but you are not, you loss my respect.
***barred word***,go give them your daughters to be 'galalized.' ***barred word*** somebody. Those boys must spend the rest of their lives in jail. Cheap man
