Our attention has been drawn to an interview granted on Okay FM earlier today in relation to a purported delay in payments due suppliers.
The flagship program of the Akufo-Addo led administration has undoubtedly been a great relief to Ghanaian parents and commendations goes to Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh and the team at the Ministry. To ensure timely supply of uniforms to students, the Ministry of education directed that procurement processes be initiated at the schools.
After items are supplied, the supplier requests for payment at the Ministry of Education. The request is accompanied by the necessary endorsement (signature and stamp from the headmaster, the storekeeper and the bursar/internal auditor of the school) on the documents from the schools. The documents are as follows:
1. Signed contract agreement between the school head and the supplier
2. Supplier’s invoice
3. Store receipt vouchers
All payments are processed within thirty (30) days after all documents are submitted to the Ministry of Education
The Ministry entreats all who have concerns to contact the Free SHS Secretariat at the Ministry of Education for redress. We are committed to resolving all issues for the successful implementation of the Free Senior High School Policy.
