Irate youth of Tumu in the Upper West region have attacked the local police station and vandalised property following disagreements with the police.
Friday morning's disturbances followed the drowning of one person in a dam on Thursday which the youth accused the police of causing.
According to the Upper West Regional Police Commander, DCOP Okyere Boah Appiah, on Thursday at about 7pm, the "tension died down but this morning [Friday] when they retrieved the body from the dam, they started again."
"They besieged the police station and vandalised it and also caused damage to a police vehicle," the police commander said.
...more to follow soon.
