The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has assured Ghanaians of government's resolve to go all out to institute innovative and prudent economic policies and to create more jobs.
He said the government was determined not to renege on its manifesto pledge to redeem Ghana from the economic doldrums and return it onto the path of growth and stability to create prosperity for all.
That, he stated was geared towards unearthing the talents and skills of the youth to empower them to contribute substantially to national development.
He gave the assurance in an address at a grand durbar to climax the week-long celebration of the Fetu Afahye of the Chiefs and people of Oguaa.
According to him, dealing with the issues of poverty and unemployment was no longer an option because they were serious national security issues which must be prioritised of which the government was equally finding a lasting solution to.
Citing evidence of government's commitment to job creation, he announced the creation of a Nation Builders' Corps (NBC), which was set to employ at least 100,000 graduates in 2018 across the country.
The programme would train graduates and equip them with tools and experiences with GHC700 monthly stipends to sustain themselves.
He said the restoration of the allowances signified that about 45,000 teacher trainees in 41 public colleges of Education and Nursing Training Institutions were expected to receive GH¢204 each as monthly allowance from the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF).
He added that the government had also created jobs for young farmers in the cocoa pollination, pruning exercise and supplied improved disease resistant seedlings to farmers under the "Planting for Food and Jobs programme".
Through the policy anchored on five pillars: provision of improved seeds, supply of fertilizers, provision of dedicated extension services, marketing and e-agriculture, he announced that the country was now self-sufficient in maize production.
Dr Bawumia called for support for government to achieve its vision and urged more youth to take advantage of the various interventions to improve themselves.

IT'S BEEN LONG I HEARD FROM THIS CHARLATAN.
Even when u're in govt, u're still promising...ahba!
Both nana addo and barwumia are not wise at all. How can you demolish houses built with scarce resources of the nation and give the land to charlatans who claim to worship Christ but their hearts are far from him to use for building a cathedral and find money from elsewhere to provide judges with new accommodations. And you call yourself competent? All those private property owners affected too have to be compensated, and you want me to clap for you that you are wise. John mahama made a lot of mistakes but he was certainly not as fuuuulish as nana addo and barwumia. In Accra there are so many government lands unused which can be used for the project if even is necessary, so to destroy properties to erect only one cathedral is mind boggling. Do they still smoke weed, because if they have stopped they wouldn't have taken this ediotic decision. And the so called men of God too think this is a noble idea. Probably noble idea if its being built on a land that is lying unused. No wonder he calls himself a A BULLDOG.
talking by heart talk is cheap they say
Where? At the Jubilee House??
