The government is expected to meet with the leadership of the University Teachers Association of Ghana, (UTAG).
UTAG has directed its members to withdraw teaching and related activities effective today, 10th January 2022 until further notice.
Meanwhile, the strike action has left students stranded in various institutions.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ministry of Education Kwesi Kwarteng speaking to sit-in host Nana Yaw Kesseh on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo' said the Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum will be meeting the leaders of UTAG for negotiations.
"...as a ministry, we are open to further and open deliberation. The Minister will meet them...there's going to be a series of meetings geared towards resolving the issue and that has been the style of the Minister of Education" he indicated.
