A severe rainstorm that hit Kotokuom, a farming community in the Atwima-Mponua District, left in its trail severe destruction of property and human suffering as 500 people got displaced.
Roofs of 20 buildings including the local Islamic Primary School and the Seventh-Day Adventist Church were blown off.
The rainstorm, which struck at about 2100 hours, also uprooted electricity poles, disrupting power supply to the community.
Mr. Bright Owusu, the Assemblymember of the area, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that there was no recorded death.
The displaced, he said, were putting up with friends and relatives while the school children hold classes under trees.
He appealed for support from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), individuals and groups.
Mr. Osei Asibey, the District NADMO Coordinator, said relief items would be sent to the victims.
