Former president John Agyekum Kufuor will on Thursday pick up his prize as joint winner of the 2011 World Food Programme Prize at Iowa in the United States of America.
Mr. Kufuor will pick the 250, 000 dollar award together with former Brazilian President Lula da Silva.
The two former presidents were honoured for supervising drastic reduction of hunger and poverty as well as implementing policies that alleviated hunger and poverty in their respective countries during their tenure in office.
Agricultural Minister, Kwesi Ahwoi who is part of the team from Ghana to pick up the award congratulated the former president for his numerous achievements during his tenure as president.
Former president Kufuor who is accompanied by his wife, Theresa Kufuor to pick up the award will deliver the keynote address at the World Food Prize Laureate Luncheon on Friday where he will be presented with the Laureate Diploma by the President of the World Food Program.
