Twenty four persons have been confirmed dead and several injured in an accident that occured on the Tamale-Buipe road in the Northern Region around 3am Monday morning.
The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vehicle with registration number AS 8931-12 traveling from Kumasi to Tamale and the driver of a KIA truck with registration number AS 8833-11 traveling from Tamale to the Buipe market collided head-on at a place called Damongo Line.
Peace Fm's Northern Regional correspondent Kwabena Ntow who confirmed the accident to Tweneboah Kodua(TK) on the "kokrokoo" programme, said there was head-on collision between the KIA truck, which was carrying cattles and goats,and the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vehicle which was carrying passengers.
Narrating the accident to Peace Fm, Kwabena Ntow said of the 24 persons confirmed dead; 15 are men,7 women, and it includes 2 children aged 1 and 7 years.
According to him ten(10) are currently on admission at the Tamale Teaching Hospital of which two(2) are under critical condition including a soldier man in the air force who is scheduled to embark on a peace keeping mission in Liberia at the end of the month.
He added that ten(10) cows and five(5) goats were also killed in the accident.
