The Ghana Police Service has served notice it will not tolerate any unruly behavior after the verdict on the election petition is announced.
The service outdoored its newly formed division, Formed Police Unit (FMU), on Monday and showcased its armory and preparedness ahead of the announcement of the verdict of the case.
The Commander of the Unit, Chief Supt. Hamza Yakubu, on the Citi Breakfast Show noted: People might think that because we talk about democracy and democratic policy, they will have the right to perpetuate evils.
Supt. Yakubu said the police wias not going to tolerate any lawlessness "in the name of democracy."
"[Democracy] is a give and take affair; if you want to [stage] a demonstration apply to the police or inform the police five clear days . When you are allowed to embark on whatever demonstration or protest you are expected also to conform to rules and regulations, there is no need being violent."
