The search for crabs in the mangroves around the Takoradi Polytechnic traffic light turned soar when Muntari Ashini, a class five pupil of the Porter �A� Basic School at Effia-Kuma got trapped under one of the trucks carting boulders for the Takoradi port expansion project.
A source at the Effia-Nkwanta Hospital told the GNA that the boy with two of his friends went to hunt for crabs in the lagoon around the mangroves on the main road leading to Sekondi in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis.
The boy, after the expedition, climbed on his bicycle but was alleged to have been pushed down by his friends resulting in the unfortunate accident which fractured his arms.
Meanwhile, the step mother of the victim collapsed on hearing the incident and was rushed to the intensive care unit of the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital for medical attention.
GNA enquiries revealed that the victim is being prepared to the theatre to repair the damaged arms.
