The outbreak of the deadly Ebola viral disease in the West African sub region and the widespread cases of cholera in the country have boosted the sale of sanitisers in Ghana.
Sanitisers serve as an alternative to regular hand washing with soap and clean running water.
As a result, the product is in high demand and the market is flooded with all types of sanitisers as people rush to acquire one for themselves, their families and offices in the hope of protecting themselves from diseases.
However experts from the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Research have warned that, not all sanitisers can provide the needed protection.
The experts say it is only the ones with the inscription, kills up to 99 percent of germs that can be effective.
The public should desist from purchasing just any sanitiser because some of them do not work.
