A 30-YEAR-OLD driver, Opoku Mohammed, has been fined GH�1,200 by a Tarkwa Circuit Court for being on the concession of Goldfields Ghana Limited Tarkwa mine unlawfully.
He pleaded guilty and would in default serve 18 months� imprisonment in hard labour.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court, presided over by Mr Justice Obeng Asante, that on November 12 security personnel of the company were on patrol when they spotted Opoku with an empty sack.
He said when the security officers questioned him as to what he was doing on the company�s concession, he could not give any tangible reason; he was arrested and handed over to the police.
