Extortion allegation has stalled the recruitment of forest guards by the Forest Services Division (FSD) of the Forestry Commission (FC) at Juaso.
A national service person, identified as Obed Kyei-Baffour, the man at the centre of the illegal money collection is now on the run.
He has been assigned the task of registering applicants invited to attend the recruitment interview but decided to take GH?10.00 from each of them on the blind side of the management.
Mrs. Rebecca Banin Oppan, the FSD Municipal Manager, confirmed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) and said the illegality was brought to her notice by the Ashanti Regional Human Resource Manager of the Division and the exercise was immediately suspended.
She added that Kyei-Baffour when confronted with the extortion allegation admitted the crime but managed to slip through before the police could be called in.
The Juaso police are now investigating the matter.
