Deputy Minister for Health, Tina Mensah has attributed government’s inability to clear nurses for their postings to inadequate funds.
“Before you clear somebody, it’s the money; when the money is available, you clear. So today, if we take it to the Finance Ministry and then there’s money available for us, then we clear.” she told Citi FM.
The nurses who completed their studies in 2016 say they have held several meetings with the Minister for health with a view to address their concerns but to no avail.
Meanwhile, the unposted nurses who picketed at the premises of the Health Ministry have accused the Police of manhandling them on Monday night.
The Police who were dispatched to the premises to evacuate the agitating nurses were reportedly compelled to apply force after the health workers were unwilling to leave the yard.
According to the President of the unposted nurses association, Samuel Asante, the Police attacked them with teargas and other crowd control equipment.
