Assin Central lawmaker Kennedy Agyapong has posed a direct question to a woman – who recently made a desperate call on President Nana Akufo-Addo to intervene in the Menzgold imbroglio – whether she shared the profits she made from the same investment, during the good times, with the president, for which reason she now desires his intervention to recover her GHS760,000 locked-up capital.
“I heard a woman say she invested GHS760,000 at Menzgold and voted for Nana Akufo-Addo while she was pregnant and, so, President Akufo-Addo should intervene so that she can get her investment back from Menzgold.
“Did you share the Menzgold profits you enjoyed with Akufo-Addo when things were hunky-dory?” Mr Agyapong asked.
He continued: “Sometimes people behave in very perplexing ways in this country”, explaining that: “Whenever people’s greed for money backfires, then they turn their guns on the politician”, adding: “It’s not proper”.
“There’s no law that says Akufo-Addo can use force to reclaim your locked-up investments”, he said while speaking about a totally separate issue involving a pastor who is alleged to be scamming his constituents at Assin Fosu.
“Unless you take him [Nana Appiah Mensah, CEO of Menzgold] to court, you won’t have your investment back”, he advised the estimated 1.8 million clients whose deposits have been locked up with the company since August 2018 when the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) ordered the investment firm to halt its operations over regulatory infractions.
Prior to that, the Bank of Ghana and the SEC has issued several warnings to the public to desist from doing business with Menzgold, since, according to the regulators, the company was not licensed for deposit-taking.
Just last week, some of the investors thronged the Dzorwulu office of Menzgold to demonstrate as part of measures to pile pressure on the government to intervene on their behalf.
It was during that demonstration that this desperate mother-of-three warned that people will die in Ghana if the president does not speak on the matter.
“If the president doesn’t speak concerning this issue, we are going to die. The president has to talk. He has to say something. Do something about the situation. Not for them to protect this man [Nana Appiah Mensah]. We need our monies. My money alone is 7.6 billion old currency [GHS760,000]. I cannot leave that money for this man [Nana Appiah Mensah] to spend it.
“I have three kids that I have to take care of. What about their fees? Is my children’s future going to be a waste just because of this man [Nana Appiah Mensah]? How come? They should have done something from the beginning. “We wouldn’t have gone in by now, so, we need them to speak and do something about it.
“The president should come out because I voted for him. When I was pregnant, I voted for that man and he has to speak. If he doesn’t speak, concerning this issue, what will happen in Ghana here, it will not contain all of us”.

Wht do u pple mean by greed... Who doesn't like money didn't u hear d finance minister saying even some officials of bog n mof invested monies there how much more d ordinary Ghanaian menzgold was operating smoothly now luk at mess SEC n Bog has created no financial institution can survive without taking deposits d fact is menzgold was a threat to the banking sector dat was y it had to b shut down by ofori atta
Truth be told, if even this man is arrested, he can not pay back that money. he spent it without considering the outcome. if even they sell his assets they cant recover all the money because those monies were not invested properly. just look at the way he was sharing monies on the streets, engaging in everything he gets to know of because of fame. buying artist and giving them cars, house etc without thinking it was the peoples money he was spending. i don't know if he owns a private jet. We only have to pray for the affected persons to at least get part of their monies after he is caught and his assets sold but for full recovery of their capital, they should forget it. Those attacking the MP should also desist from the attack, this very man started warning people to stay away because this man was not genuine but they refuse to listen even after several warnings came up people were still investing. now that they are affected they are calling on the same people they attacked and called names to now go and collect their monies for them how possible. this is a private investment and so the government can't do much about it besides the cash involved the government can't even pay if he intervenes.
What at all has Ken Agyepong said that is so bad about this menzgold saga or the lamentations of this Menzgold investor for some utterly b0ne heads on this platefrom to insult him. The hypocrisy of Ghanaians makes me want to puke. Against all advise, you invest your hard earned money or lets say your soft earned money in a private venture and ignore all the warnings from the sector regulator for some extravagant returns that not even the mighty Wall Street won't offer and when it appears that you are bound to lose your money, you try to f-----00000l1$hly hold the President and the government to ransom. When Kennedy Agyepong offers free, sensible advice of using the law and the Courts to seek redress, some p--un-k a$$3d d1mw1ts on this platform starts 1n$ult1ng and talking utter b0110ck--$. We as a nation will never learn. After Pyram, God is love, DKM etc, one would have thought people will be thoughtful with their monies. NAM1 has a private jet and other assets. Get to the courts and get him to sell and pay you. Stop worrying and mithering the President and the government, they have better stuff to think of.
all greedy Ghanaians will be duped till thy kingdom comes.
yes it is true...they made a mistake...greed drove them to this but is it enough for an MP to talk in that manner....something definitely needs to be done...does government even have a database of all clients? do they knw how much saving in terms of their Principal only to talk of profit accrued? the responsibility of the well being of the nation lies solely of those running the show....we thought we were fed up with JM so we voted for change....change of care, well being, security and safety...and if you throw things to the face of your own citizen ull be punish in due time...as for NPP they don't learn always talking as if they have it all...throwing ***barred word*** to ppls face simply because they're in charge..time will tell
Hon, kennedy Agyapong should not behave like an idiooot. what did npp promised when there was similar incidence at DKM sunyani. do ghanaians have short memory or mere stupiiidity. you lied to ghanaians and won with DKM. What is good for npp is also good for ghananians and those who invested at menzgold . is npp telling ghanaians that they have short memories and cannot reason or compare.
where was she wen JSTAR MOTORS, care for humanity,Little drops, God is love, etc duped people?
the woman needs spiritual deliverance.
I support KEN. cos this is not the first time banks have come with big interest for customer and later closed down but with greedy minds still in Ghana I am 1000% sure this will happen again & again 2019 another new bank will come will come and greedy people will sell there properties to deposit and after few months it will be closed the again we will be calling on the president, small brains want cheap and easy money,
Those who don't think deep will make such a statement about the customers who are rather in deep mess. And shallow minds will support this infantile words from a whole law maker.
