MTN, Ghana’s leading telecommunications service provider, has partnered Africa Movies on the Go (AMGO) LLC, a mobile content provider, to  launch the AMGO App in Accra.

The AMGO app is a video-on-demand solution that allows users to conveniently stream and download the most current African movies on their mobile smart phones. Subscribers can watch their downloaded videos offline on their mobile devices as many times as they wish. Payment for the movies may be made with MTN Mobile Money or any other electronic payment service.

Currently available for download on google play for android devices, the app will soon be available for other operating systems.

Describing the app during a speech at the launch of the product, Bless Sefenu Agordjo, MTN’s Acting Senior Manager, Products and Services, said the introduction of the AMGO App is in line with the Company’s vision to lead the delivery of a bold new digital world.

“As a company, we believe that access to digital products and services will change the lives of our customers for the better,” he said. “Digital access to education, healthcare services, media and entertainment, financial services and the Internet, are all avenues to enhance the way we live our lives, and MTN’s vision is to enable access to all these benefits for our customers. With the launch of this AMGO app we are providing access to yet another avenue of digital entertainment.”

Reiterating MTN’s commitment to continually invest in network infrastructure and IT systems for the delivery of world class digital services to customers, he identified some of the Company’s investments, including the introduction of the first mobile 4G service in Ghana, three ultra-modern data centres and thousands of kilometres of fiber-optic cable to improve data speeds and reliability.

Nana Osei Aboagye, CEO of AMGO Group LLC, said AMGO is committed to partnering like-minded enterprises to provide the best of mobile content to subscribers in Ghana. He also entreated subscribers to patronise the app.

MTN Ghana continues to reaffirm its commitment to offering the best of digital services through its partnerships with app developers and content providers. The launch of AMGO follows a discussion held in 2016 with persons within the entertainment and creative arts industry, local content developers, aggregators, entrepreneurs, investors and consumers, on how local content could be used to harness the limitless opportunities within the digital space.

Additionally, in order to boost local Apps for entertainment and business industry, the MTN Apps Challenge competition has showcased several Ghanaian app developers whose apps have gained local and international recognition. Some of the apps include the Oware 3D and the Buzztrick apps.
