The Central Regional Minister, Madam Ama Benyiwa Doe, has described as unfortunate and mischievous, a publication by the “Daily Searchlight” Newspaper alleging that she has begun with the construction of a storey building just within the eleventh month stay of the NDC government.
“I find it ridiculous and absurd when such a lie is peddled without double cross checking, and the unfortunate part is when people believe it without knowing the truth,” she told PEACEFM News.
The Hon. Minister, who also doubles as the National Women’s Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was reacting to media speculations that she had torn down her semi- detached building and has commenced with the putting up of a storey building on the same land at her East Legon.
This latest architectural foray, according to the “Daily Searchlight”, comes just eleven months into the President Mills administration.
A careful observation by Peace News reporters who visited the project site showed that some form of construction works was on-going. But the building which seems to have generated quite a lot of media interest is only at the window level of construction with bamboo sticks used as support-stakes.
One of the loudest critics of the erstwhile New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, Hon. Benyiwa-Doe accused the “Daily Searchlight” Editor of being influenced by her detractors to write misleading and untruths about her person, all in a calculated attempt to discredit her. She entreated the public to treat everything written about her in the newspaper with a pinch of salt.
“Ken Korankye is certainly motivated by certain people to peddle this untruth since he was an ally of the NDC sometime ago, before writing complimentary stories for the NPP lately. I will entreat the public to stop buying his paper to avoid reading such misleading stories,” she said.
