The Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament (MP) for Suhum Constituency, Hon Frederick Opare Ansah, is clearly an unhappy person as is evidenced in his recent swipe at the current government ministers, describing them as irresponsible and tactless.

The crux of his anger has to do with the pronouncement by the Water Resources, Works and Housing Ministry to the effect that an estimated GH¢5.6 million is to be used to renovate government bungalows due to appalling state of the buildings left behind by NPP Ministers.

According to him, it was time people who are occupying responsible positions in government tend to be more responsible and circumspect with their comments, since not all ministers lived in government bungalows.

Speaking in an interview with Citi FM on issues concerning the GH¢5.6 million used by government to renovate government bungalows, he said the amount involved was ridiculous within a time frame of only 10-months in government.

The Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Dr. Louisa Hannah Bissiw, attributed the high cost of the renovation to the deplorable state of the bungalows left behind by the previous administration (the NPP).

However, Hon Frederick Opare Ansah believes that it was irresponsible on the part of the Minister to attribute it to all state ministers who did not even occupy state bungalows.

Referring to the current NDC government minister, he said: “they are not responsible, they are behaving irresponsibly. If somebody has stolen something, the person has a name, why do you have to make a general statement that affects somebody like me,” he stated.

The Works and Housing Minister also accused the previous government of looting some properties, which demanded replacement.

The Minority Chief Whip suggested that those involved be named rather than making reference to all ex-government officials.

“Everyone has a name, who are the people who auctioned air-conditions or sold government properties, who are they?” he asked.

He said the priority of the NDC government was to seek their own comfort other than that of Ghanaians, and added that, the NDC were now in power and needed to stop misbehaving like when they were in opposition.

“As a gov’t your priority is not your comfort, your priority is to take care of state property; your priority is not to use state resources for your comfort; that is what you have done… Hannah Bissiw and those people, ask them where they live? It will give you an idea why they are talking. Ask them where they live. I have never lived in a government bungalow. Go and ask them where they live and you will know the priority of this government. They have been exposed for what they are,” he stated.
