The Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Junior has warned the New Patriotic Party (NPP), that if it elects national executives entirely from a particular faction in the party, it will go a long way to affect their chances in 2012.

He said if delegates elect executives entirely from either the Alan Kyeremanteng or Akufo Addo camp, the party should forget winning the 2012 elections since they cannot unite to win it.

Speaking in a panel discussion on Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo,’ he said the only thing that will save the party will be a relatively equal representation of the two factions in the Party.

“The executive committee should comprise both factions,” he stated. He added that the NPP needed to be more circumspect and fight for the betterment of their party, rather than funning internal wranglings.

In a related issue, he said that the party’s national conference next Saturday to elect its national officers will not be a fierce battle.

He told Peace FM that the National Chairmanship position will be a straight battle between Jake Obetsebi Lamptey and Stephen Ntim, both erstwhile minister of Tourism and Vice Chairman respectively.

According to him, apart from the two contestants, the rest in trail are all passengers who are just adding up to the numbers.

Five contestants will be lining up next weekend in Kumasi to contest for the Chairmanship position of the NPP. Stephen Ntim, former vice chairman; Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, former Tourism Minister; Sammy Crabbe, Greater Accra Regional chairman; Charles Yves Wereko Brobbey, CEO of the defunct Ghana @50; and Hon. Felix Owusu Adjapong, former Majority Leader in Parliament are all contesting for the topmost position in the largest opposition party in the country, the NPP.

Other national executives will be elected as well, to fill the various national positions in the party.
